Scott and Marina met through Anastasiaweb in 2000. Scott corresponded with her by emailing and occasional phone calls. In October 2000 Scott decided to take a tour of Moscow and arranged to meet Marina there. On October 21, 2000 he proposed to her and she accepted. They then went back to each of their respective home countries and Scott began the process of arranging for a fiancee visa to bring Marina to the United States. Scott decided to fly to Marina's home country of Kyrgyzstan to marry her there. After a beautiful, but unofficial, ceremony they had to part again, but the day finally arrived when US Immigrations finally granted Marina her fiancee visa. Scott had her flown in May 1, 2001 and Marina was finally married to her Sea Bunny (a cute story) on June 12, 2001. What initially attracted you to your partner? Scott: Her overall appearance and especially her intense eyes. We had common interests and hobbies. Marina: His honesty, kindness, caring, similar interests and his sense of humor. We had a mutual understanding even though I didn't speak perfect English.
Tell us a little about your courtship process. Scott: I wrote her e-mails and letters for 9 months and phoned occasionally. I took a tour to Moscow and flew her in to meet me there. Marina: We met in Moscow on 20 October, it was my birthday. On the second day Scotty gave me a big bouquet of roses and a stuffed animal. It had a diamond ring on it's nose and he proposed to me. After nine months of corresponding through e-mail I said yes.
How, when and where did the marriage proposal take place? Scott: On the second night of my meeting her in Moscow I proposed to her in my Hotel Room. Marina: Scott came to Bishkek to meet my mother and we had a non-official wedding, but I came to America on a fiancee visa on May 1, 2001 and we had an official wedding on 12 June in the United States.
Marina: You need to believe that there is a man for you even though he may be on another continent and not be afraid to choose the man yourself. If you like someone don't waste time, write to him. Open your heart and soul, he will understand and reply to you.
